I have another CoverGirl review for you today – I’m going to be giving you my thoughts on the NatureLuxe line. I’ll start with the foundation, as that is my favorite.
CoverGirl NatureLuxe Foundation
What CoverGirl says: Redefine natural beauty with our lightweight silk foundation. With a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts, our light yet luxurious formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish. Plus, we’re so sure you’ll love NatureLuxe Silk Foundation, that if you’re not satisfied with the results, we’ll refund your money.
What I think: This foundation is definitely lightweight and feels silky smooth on your skin. I can smell the cucumber water, and I think it smells pretty pleasant. It’s a strong scent, though, so if you’re sensitive to smells, I would try to test it at Ulta before purchasing it. The finish is very natural, and I’d say it gives light to medium coverage, depending how much you put on. I like to apply this with my fingers and then dab over it with a sponge to blend it. This is perfect for spring and summer, when you want to look natural, and it has SPF 10 sunscreen in it, so your skin is partially protected (for full skin protection, I like to wear a moisturizer with SPF under this foundation). It also stays on all day if you set it with just a little bit of powder, although if you rub at your face with a napkin/tissue, I noticed that it has a tendency to rub off just a bit. I have the colors Bamboo 315 and Chamois 330. I didn’t realize that Chamois was so much darker than Bamboo when I chose that color, but I thought it would be a good summer color for when I’m a bit tanner. Chamois actually seems to match my skin better, though, because it has a cooler undertone, whereas Bamboo seems slightly more orange.
CoverGirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm
What CoverGirl says: Get the sheer color and shine of a gloss with the soft, lightweight feel of SPF 15 balm. Fortified with mango and shea butter, this feel-good formula leaves your lips feeling decadent and delicious.
What I think: Again, this is a perfect summer product because it’s lightweight and provides sun protection. I have read a lot of reviews on these balms that say they are extremely sheer, so I wasn’t expecting much color payoff. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Cabernet 250 shows up on my skin very similar to the way it looks in the tube. It is a sheer color, but it provides about as much color as the Korres Lip Butters or the L’Oreal HIP jelly balms, to compare. As a matter of fact, I’d say it’s somewhere between the two; less moisturizing than Korres but less glossy than L’Oreal. It’s smooth, not too greasy, not too glossy, and just a nice pop of color to keep things easy and breezy. The smell is nothing awful and nothing spectacular. It smells like something familiar that I really can’t place.
I used the pictures off of the CoverGirl website because honestly, I’m a bit too lazy to take my own (and really, what’s the use of photographing foundation?).
Xoxo,
- Hannah
FTC: I received the foundation in Chamois and the gloss balm in Cabernet from BzzAgent for review. I had previously purchased the foundation in Bamboo with my own money. All opinions are my own and are completely honest. I am not being paid by CoverGirl, BzzAgent, or any company to review these items.
